Clades: Radualaceae; Porellales; Marchantiophyta; Bryophyta; Plants.
Genus: 8 species; 1 genus in Radulaceae.
Habitat: on trees and shrubs; anywhere except the highest mountains; avoids deep shade, but likes sheltered, moist conditions; on rocks by streams, lake margins, sea cliffs; dark places; usually non fertile.
BotanyMoss: radial, forming circles; usually flattened; forming patches or scattered stems creeping among mosses; pale yellowish- green; up to 3 cm long; rounded, sack-like male bracts can be seen with a hand lens on the same shoots as the long, flat perianths.
Stem: up to about 3 mm wide.
Leaves: rounded, overlapping, bilobed; smaller lobule folded underneath; about 1.5 mm long and wide; margins often have gemmae.
TaxonomyRadula differs from Scapania and Diplophyllum in having the smaller lobule underneath, They differ from Porella, Lejeunea and Frullania in having no underleaves.
