Hawaiian: Lauaʻe.
Genus: 13 species.
Region: Western Pacific rim; Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, South Pacific; French Polynesia; introduced in Hawaii.
Use: pieces of the fern are interlaced in leis made of strung-up keys (individual drupes) of the pandanus fruit; for scenting kapa fabric; expanses of the fern famously grows in Makana on Kauaʻi, and is commemorated in song.
