Leaves: dimorphic, fertile and sterile fronds; lack well-defined sori; with indeterminate growth; rachis is long, thin, flexible, twining around supports; 3 to 12 m long.
Sporangia: with a horizontal annulus that lies below and completely encircles the top of the sporangium.
TaxonomySchizaeaceae, Anemiaceae and Lygodiaceae form a monophyletic clade, named Schizaeales in the Ppg1 classification.
