TaxonomyIn Apg3 classification Helicteriaceae is treated a subfamily of Malvaceae, Helicteroideae. In older taxonomies many genera were included in Bombacaceae.
In the Plant theory Helicteriaceae is treated as a family and placed in Subphase 6.
