Case by Jan Scholten.
Woman, 55 years old, anxiety and depression. She was diagnosed with endogenous depression. Her anxiety and depression started at 14, when a charming gentlemen took her to his apartment and sexually abused her. Her father abused her too later in life. She developed auto-mutilation, cutting pieces out of her hand. When she is anxious, she feels tingling and pinching over whole body. She is confused, mixed up. She has a fear of doing things, fear of leaving her home. She never talks to strangers, as they will never understand her. She has the feeling of an end time, due to corona and inflation. She is clingy and needs support. Her husband was a big support and when he died she became very sad and more depressed. She was struggling and fighting even more. She got backaches with instability when walking, as if walking on eggs.
She is in despair easily. She has consulted homeopaths for fifteen years. If it does not work straight away, she phones “I’m so terrible, can you give me another remedy please!”
She takes a lot of psychotropic drugs, which give her a zombie-like face.
FamilyHer mother was distant, anxious, and depressed. She became pregnant at 18 already. She was distant with her and hardly held her hand, as she was too busy with her four children. The father of her mother was very strict, beating her on her buttocks with a belt, even during her pregnancy. It was never spoken about. Later in his life he apologised.
Her parents had a difficult relationship. Her father was rigid, strict, a lot was forbidden. He was quiet, could hit her with a slipper. He told her “You are wrong, you are empty, you cannot do anything right.” He didn't allow her to learn to play the piano, she had to learn that at school. She felt rejected, helpless, alone, with no ground under her feet. She has very few nice memories. There were no holidays.
In her youth, she was always depressed, looking out the window. In puberty she became rebellious, secretly climbing out the window and going out. At 19 she went living in a therapeutic community.
MarriageWith her husband she managed to overcome all sorts of crises. It was a romantic relationship. He had many feelings, but also depressions and fears, which had to do with his Christian education. She had a new relationship 6 weeks after the death of her husband. The first years of the new relationship after the death of her husband were good. But he is silent, quieter and does not console or comfort her.
She has a daughter. She was in a panic when her daughter had a psychotic breakdown. She also has a son; he was contented and easy to care for, as a baby content with artificial feeding.
MindShe sees no meaning in things. She talks more easily than listening. She asks for help: "Is there anyone who can help me?" Chi Gong helps her.
PhysicalShe has lots of rumbling in her abdomen and flatulence.
She has long blond hair and dark rings under the eyes.
She has numbness of her skin.
