Synonym: Tellima breviflora.
Region: western North America.
Habitat: rocky soils; moist conditions forests; occasionally in boggy land, redwood, mixed evergreen, yellow pine forests; prefers light, sandy, loamy and heavy clay soils; grows in semi-shade or no shade; altitude: sea level to 1500 metres.
Content: ellagitannins, tellimagrandin II.
Use: ornamental, moist borders, woodlands. rock gardens.
BotanyHerb; perennial; 60 cm tall.
Leaves: rounded; emerging from a rootstock; evergreen.
Inflorescence: spikes, green calyx; petals greenish-white to purple, pinnately divided and spreading, deeply fringed.
Flower: hermaphrodite; flowering July to August
