Habitat: atlantic rainforest, semideciduous forests, in dense primary formations; sunny positions and in dappled shade.
Use: wood for fuel, charcoal, manufacture of light objects, pencils, boxes.
Botany
Evergreen, dioecious tree; quite slow growing; dense, globose, bluish-green crown; up to 20 - 25 metres tall.
Stem: straight, cylindrical bole; 50 - 70cm in diameter; wood medium-textured, moderately heavy, soft, very durable.
