Family
Synym: Cotyledon hispanica; Sedum hispanicum.
Region: Spain, except the Atlantic coast and Catalonia.
Habitat: bare soils, sands or lithosols; well in soils of gypsiferous crust or loams; gypsum crust, especially the most stark and clear, although it is concentrated at the base of the hills.

Stem: weak, erect, usually unbranched.
Leaves 5 to 14 mm long, 1 to 4 mm wide; fleshy; sessile; broadly ellipsoidal, obtuse; lower ones usually glabrous; upper ones pilose glandular.
Inflorescence: cymose with flexuous twigs.
Flowers: 5 merous; sepals 0.5-1.5 mm, linear to triangular-lanceolate, acute, margins hyaline; corolla 8 to 22 mm, densely hairy glandulous, with a cylindrical tube, abruptly expanding into a crown of segments, ovate, acute, reddish or purplish; stamens 10; anthers yellow; carpels 5; blooming June to July.
Fruit: polyfollicle.
