Region: south eastern Australia.
Habitat: rainforests.
Botany: shrub or small tree, to 16 metres tall; trunk diameter of 80 cm; leaves dull, hairless, ± 8 cm long, ± 2 cm wide, leaf stems purple; flowers greenish yellow, form on racemes from the leaf axils, from January to April; fruit large, to 10 mm in diameter, white, pink to dark purple, edible, heavy yielding, with a large pip, strong, bitter taste.
