English: Indian red scorpion; Eastern Indian scorpion.
Region: India, eastern Pakistan, eastern lowlands of Nepal; recently Sri Lanka.
Content: mixture of proteins: tamapin.
ZoologyScorpion; 50 to 90 mm long.
Limbs: walking legs and the tip of the pedipalp pincers are bright orange-yellow to light reddish-brown; mesosomal tergites always bear three distinct carinae.
Habitus: rather small pedipalp pincers, moderately thickened metasomal segments;bulbous telson with large stinger; base of the pedipalp pincers (manus) is slightly more inflated in males than in females.
Toxicity: causes human fatalities, mostly children, 8–40% have been reported in clinical studies; most victims are children.
