Name: form Greek, gymno meaning naked, sperm meaning seed.
Synonym: Leontice alberti
Region: Soviet Central Asia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan.
Habitat: rocky hillsides, open, well-drained soil, unheated glasshouses.
Botany: a tuberous perennial herb, about 15 cm high; leaves lobed, with five leaflets, bronze-tinged, rolled lengthways when young, expanding and turning pale green with maturity; inflorescence dense raceme, pendent at first, later upright; flowers up to 2.5 cm, earlier bell-shaped, bright yellow with a coppery red exterior.
