Habitat: neotropical.
BotanyTree or shrub; 1.5 to 6 metres.
Stem: young branches are glabrous, bearing a leaf tuft.
Leaves: alternate, unifoliate; 15 to 40 cm long, 3 to 11 cm wide; obovate or oblanceolate, narrow oblanceolate; cuneate and decurrent at base; adaxial surface is smooth; petiole is 0.5 to 3 cm.
Flowers: white; corolla is 4 to 6 centimetre in diameter; flowering from April to July.
Fruit: capsule; 4 to 5 glabrous carpels, 1 to 2 cm.
