Genus: 25 species.
Region: Australia, Southeast Asia, western Pacific Islands, New South Wales, southeastern Queensland; Malaysia.
Habitat: rainforest margins; regrowth after logging.
Use: common garden plant; fibrous bark for nets to catching kangaroos and fish.
TaxonomyA revision of the genus in 2011 added 3 newly described species, as well as 14 species previously included in Rulingia, and transferred a number of species to the newly created genus Androcalva.
BotanyTee; 25 metres tall.
Stem: 50 cm diameter.
Leaves: very characteristically horizontally layered.
