Habitat: woodland, forests, on rocky or sandy locations.
BotanySmall, upright shrub; 50 cm high; smooth stems.
Leaves: dull green; linear; sessile; alternately; ± 3 cm long, ± 3 cm wide; edges curved under, smooth, toothed or with lobes.
Flowers: blue to deep purple, 5 yellow stamen; single or in clusters of 2-5 on a short upright stems; petals egg-shaped, ± 2 cm long.
Fruit: capsules; ± oblong to egg-shaped; 12–18 mm long and flattened.; flowering in summer and autumn.
