Chemistry: second-generation antihistamine used in the treatment of hay fever, allergies, angioedema, and urticaria; major metabolite of hydroxyzine, and a racemic selective H1 receptor antagonist; less able to cross the blood–brain barrier; less effects of drowsiness or memory formation.
