Region: Ecuador, south America, northern and western S. America, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia.
Habitat: tropics; somewhat cold tolerant, sunny position; elevations from 1,500 - 2,400 metres
Use: edible fruit,raw or cooked.
BotanyEvergreen shrub or small tree; up to 10 metres tall.
Fruit: round, light green to orange; 25 - 40mm in diameter; flesh cream-coloured, very sweet, rather cloying.
