Cerium muriaticum

Year 2026, Issue 2, Article 6CaseAuthor: Ulrich Welte Markus Kuntosch
In the following case, the patient was also indecisive about the choice of color as an indication of a lanthanide as a healing drug. She could never really go for a consistent color preference. We have therefore not determined any color for over 9 years. She changed frequently, which on its own after the experience of Dr. Müller is mostly a reference to green as the actual favorite color. Among the many colors she chose 3 colors several times, namely pure blue 15 / 16C, blue turquoise (cyan) 17C and yellow-green 23C.
The patient is now in her early 50s and has been suffering from seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for 13 years. It all started with a swelling of the right big toe. Later there was swelling of the right wrist and the proximal finger joints. The joints on the right side were always more affected than those on the left. She could no longer close her fists and had a morning stiffness of over an hour. She was in pain when you pressed your hands together. The mobility of the cervical spine was also restricted. At night she woke up with severe pain and was only able to get into a different lying position with great effort. She had the first severe attack after her sister died of cancer within a short time. At that time she felt 'stiff and blocked, like an 80-year-old, internally empty, listless, constricted and pressed into a pattern.' Because of the constant phone calls with the doctors and her parents, she no longer had time for herself Diagnosis confirmed by a rheumatologist and if anti-CCP antibodies are detected and blood sedimentation is accelerated by a maximum of 30/50, basic therapy with methotrexate is initiated. At the same time we tried again and again to find a good homeopathic remedy for her. Because of her open and communicative nature and the death of her sister as a possible trigger, we have given various phosphorus salts over many years. In addition to elemental phosphorus, it received the phosphorus salts of Praseodymium, Cerium, Natrium, Plumbum, Lithium, Thulium, and Cadmium, as well as Acidum phosphoricum. It would be pointless to list all the other remedies that we have given over the 13 years, because there were 59 in total! We selected them according to the most varied of analytical approaches: polarity analysis, classical repertorisation, sensation method, theory of the elements and according to the plant theory. There were clear reactions only to Cadmium phosphoricum and above all to Limenitis bredowii, a Californian butterfly species. This healed her pain after the death of her sister, combined with a tightness in her chest that had existed for years. In her RA, however, none of the selected remedies showed any lasting improvement. At times she also sought supportive help with acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy and the application of leeches. Nothing brought her any real improvement. With the basic therapy with MTX and the additional intake of ibuprofen, the chronic inflammation was suppressed to such an extent that she was able to cope with her everyday life satisfactorily. But hope dies last and you should never give up. Sometimes, even after many years and unsuccessful attempts, you can still find a solution.
In her case, another choice of color provided the decisive clue. When she came back to the practice because the pain and morning stiffness had increased significantly for two weeks, she chose Green 23C. Her right wrist was almost stiff by now. I asked her to describe the sensation in her sore wrists in more detail. She said it was stuck, she wasn't free. Something is holding them back. When asked if there was a reason for this further deterioration, she said that she was angry and aggressive with her mother, who blocked herself instead of enjoying her life. Her mother had moved into a beautiful new apartment six months earlier and has only been sitting around at home feeling depressed ever since. When she told this, she cried. As the only surviving family member, she must take care of them. Although she doesn't really like going to her anymore because of her bad mood.

I went through all means of category 23C and came across Cerium muriaticum, which we were able to filter out a year ago after reviewing all our lanthanide cases as a second color for Cerium and its salts Cerium muriaticum, Cerium phosphoricum and Cerium sulphuricum.
She has rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease that indicates a lanthanide, and she feels unfree, held back by her mother, who blocks herself but has to take care of her. Blocking oneself is Cerium and the subject of 'care' and 'mother' is typical of the chlorine compounds, the 'muriaticums'.
She received Cerium muriaticum MK once a week. After 4 weeks she is much better. She looks healthier, is no longer so pale and drained. She generally feels more comfortable, lighter and freer. She no longer feels so attacked and drained by her mother. The joints also hurt a lot less. She continues to take Cerium muriaticum MK once a week. After 8 weeks she feels very light in her body. They feel liberated, airier (a hint of yellow) and not so heavy anymore. Your body no longer hurts at all. She only sometimes feels her elbow, which she broke years ago. She hadn't felt that good for a long time, although she usually feels worse in the cold, damp weeks of November. She could even laugh again and was really happy. It is the best drug she has ever received. Their quality of life has improved from 20 to 70% on a 100-point scale. She even stopped taking methotrexate and pain relievers on her own. We often see in patients who respond well to lanthanides that they control the intake of their medication themselves, they want to or at least participate in the decision-making process.
After a total of 13 weeks, she is still doing well and improving. She is in a good mood and her joints no longer hurt. She didn't need any more pain pills. She is much happier and more balanced. Before every visit to her mother, she takes a gift of Cerium muriaticum and is much more relaxed as a result. You can see it at a greater distance now. Your quality of life has improved again and is now 80%.
Her mother always had phases of depression. She is then completely withdrawn and can no longer be reached. The first time was when the patient herself was through puberty. The parents had a restaurant. They were always there, but actually never available when she needed them. So she had to become independent early on and stand on her own two feet. When their lease was terminated, all their mother wanted to do was hide in bed under the covers. She was no longer available and ended up in a clinic. When she was feeling a little better again and looking for contact again, our patients no longer wanted him.
Over the years we have always thought that the sister's death from cancer was the actual cause of her rheumatism, which is often an indication of phosphorus salts. And her open, approachable and communicative manner seemed to confirm this constitutionally. So we almost only gave phosphorus salts and only once Ammonium muriaticum because of the resentment against her mother. Ultimately, however, her greatest concern was that after the death of her sister and father she had to take care of the depressed mother alone and felt that her freedom of movement was restricted.
A phenomenon that we have observed again and again in lanthanide cases is that the salt has to be exactly right. If you achieve a partial effect with other minerals, such as potassium compounds, if you may have given Kalium phosphoricum instead of Kalium muriaticum at the beginning, this is often not the case with lanthanides. Our patient received Cerium phosphoricum as one of the first remedies after phosphorus, bamboo and Praseodymium phosphoricum. She felt blocked back then. So the idea for Cerium was already there, only the salt wasn't precise enough.
CeriumThe subject of being blocked in front of something has come up again and again with the various cerium salts. Mostly it is fear of the threshold of new life situations. For children, this can be learning a new skill, such as learning to walk or swimming, or starting school. In the first step into personal responsibility and independence, they seem to be stuck. Interestingly, the flint in lighters contains cerium. Patients who are helped by cerium compounds often lack the initial spark to take the first step and overcome the obstacle at hand. If you manage to take this first step, it usually works surprisingly well. It's like blocking itself. They prefer to watch the others as they overcome the hurdle and learn internally, in their thoughts, but are too blocked to simply try it for themselves. If you then give the impetus, they can do it the first time.
